In order to maintain a professional and productive relationship with our Recipients, we need to maintain a mutual healthy relationship with integrity. This means our staff and recipients need to communicate in a healthy and honest manner.
Honesty:
In order for The Immanuel Mission, Corp. to help as many people as possible for its Mission, recipients are required to be honest in regards to their hardship needs and financial status.
Harassment:
In order to maintain a healthy and safe relationship with our staff and recipients, harassment of any kind by our staff or recipients is strictly forbidden. This policy includes but not limited to sexual, physical, or verbal harassment.
Unacceptable Behavior:
Unacceptable behavior towards The Immanuel Mission, Corp., its charities and staff includes but not limited to: lying about need or exaggerating issues to solicit donations, publicly berating or bullying charity staff, using manipulative tactics to pressure donations, refusing to disclose financial information when requested, misappropriation of donated funds, engaging in discriminatory practices, and failing to use donations effectively for their intended purpose; essentially, any behavior that exploits the charitable mission for the purpose of gain or undermines the trust of donors and beneficiaries.
Case Law:
Because The Immanuel Mission, Corp. was founded and is registered as a nonprofit in the State of Indiana, Indiana case law is used to create and protect the organization, its staff, and its recipients:
Indiana Case Law: 35-45-10-2. “Harassment” Defined
Sec. 2 As used in the chapter, “harassment” means conduct directed toward a victim that includes but is not limited to repeated or continuing impermissible contact that would cause a reasonable person to suffer emotional distress and that actually causes the victim to suffer emotional distress. Harassment does not include statutorily or constitutionally protected activity, such as lawful picketing pursuant to labor disputes or lawful employer-related activities pursuant to labor disputes.
Compliance Violations:
The Immanuel Mission, Corp. understands and realizes that our charity recipients may be going through an emotional time as they face their hardships. Because of this, it is our hope and prayer to work with such individuals with the mission to help however we can. However, if such persons become in violation of the above policy, The Immanuel Mission, Corp. reserves the right to enforce this policy by issuing a written warning whenever reasonably possible. If such an issue cannot be resolved, The Immanuel Mission, Corp. reserves the right to terminate the charitable relationship with the recipient at any time, which can be before or after the recipient has received approved benefits.
In the event of a criminal act by The Immanuel Mission, Corp.’s staff or recipients, The Immanuel Mission, Corp. may file civil or criminal charges to protect its Mission, Staff, or recipients.
Staff Violation
The Immanuel Mission Corp. requires its staff to perform professionally and with integrity. We carefully chose individuals for their position and in order to ensure the safety for all parties involved, we perform criminal backgrounds on our ministers and other staff as reasonably necessary. While we try to make every reasonable effort to ensure safety, some things may not be able to be foreseen. However, if it is brought to our attention that one of our staff members has behaved in an unacceptable manner, we will investigate such accusations and take appropriate action, which can include dismissal from the Corporation, and file a civil and / or criminal enforcement complaint if the violation warrants it. If anyone has experienced inappropriate behavior from any of our staff, we encourage the victim to file a formal complaint with our President / CEO, Vice President or any member on our Board of Directors.
